- FB Mondial HPS 300

Kinetic Group’s MotoRoyale in India introduced the FB Mondial motorcycle brand,, and the Italian motorcycle company unveiled its first offering for the region – the HPS 300. The FB Mondial HPS 300 is a scrambler-styled 250 cc motorcycle that will be manufactured at MotoRoyale’s Ahmednagar plant in Maharashtra. Ever since its establishment in 1936 and a rich racing past in the 1950s, the company has had a roller-coaster journey. However, the bike factory was shut down in 1957 but was later revived with two small-capacity bikes in 2014. The recently released HPS 300 is part of the same list and is currently India’s most affordable scrambler on sale.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Specifications
The HPS 300 is intended above all for the kind of consumer who loves elegance and exclusivity and can pay for the privilege. The specifications for the HPS 300 are not very impressive: with the help of liquid cooling and fuel injection, the 250cc single-cylinder engine produces almost 25bhp and 22Nm. A six-speed gearbox and chain drive are in place. Everything referring to the scrambler intentions is the high dual exhausts, voiced rims, and flat seat. As such, considering the expected look of the motorcycle, the single-cylinder and the weight reduction it gives makes sense. However, the asking price is well over Rs 3 lakh, which catapults it into the same league as multi-cylinder streetbikes that are manufactured by much better-known brands. However, as we’ve said in the first line, exclusivity has a price.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Features
A halogen headlamp, LED taillamp, and indicators are obtained by the FB Mondial HPS 300, while the circular optical instrument cluster adds the only new visual feature to the motorcycle.
The FB Mondial HPS 300 comes with a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Piaggio-sourced 249 cc engine that provides around 24 bhp at 9000 rpm and 22 Nm of peak torque at 7000 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox is coupled with the engine. The bike weighs about 135 kg, which could mean an impressive power-to-weight ratio, technically.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Variants
The FB Mondial HPS 300 is a retro-scrambler that is built around a retro-theme and has a minimalist style. At the 2017 EICMA Exhibition, the motorcycle was first seen and is based on the HPS 125 of the FB Mondial. Together with a flat saddle and knobby off-road tires, the HPS 300 gets a chiseled fuel tank that gives the bike the proper old-school charm. The slim tank complements the beefy full-length belly pan, while the rear gets a skeletal tire hugger, shielding the chunky tire with spoke wheels. At the back, the stubby tail section rounds out the build, while particular attention is paid to the high-mounted peashooter exhausts.

- FB Mondial Sport Classic 300

The Sport Classic 300 is a tribute to Nello Pagani, the pilot who won the first 300cc world championship on an F.B Mondial in 1949, who also won the manufacturer’s world championship only one year after the establishment of the Italian company, as the name on the front fairing says, Pagani 1948. For both the pilot and F.B Mondial as a producer, the world title championship was reconfirmed in the 1950s.
FB Mondial Sport Classic 300 Specifications
The Sport Classic 300, also known as Pagani 1948, with its retro-racing theme, lets you experience the pure excitement of racing in the 50s, where victories were not only won with super-powered engines but also thanks to courageous and iconic pilots with amazing riding abilities.
You would think at first glance that it’s a thin, retro-styled café racer going through the short height, crouched-forward riding stance, rear-view mirrors placed on the handlebar-end, and rearset footpegs. Yet there are more double-sport tires and side-mounted exhausts on the scramblers’ lines. It’s both a mix and Mondial prefers to brand the bike a ‘Hipster,’ which explains the name of the HPS. For others, its small scale might be a turn-off, but the HPS 300 looks enticing. In reality, those who saw it on the road thought it was a higher capacity motorcycle considering the diminutive scale, such as the style.
FB Mondial Sport Classic 300 Features
I would expect it to have a firecracker of an engine, but the HPS 300 disappoints, for a motorcycle that looks so fine. The bike is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 249cc engine that gives only 22.8PS and 22Nm. Yeah. Yes. And much of it is clustered at the top of the rev scale, to add to the dilemma. This impacts acceleration and in our VBOX comparison, which is long, the HPS 300 managed a 0-100kmph time of 12.5 seconds. To its credit, the clutch is light and gear shifts from the six-speed transmission are slick, but in terms of bringing the power down, there is only so much a transmission can do. In today’s day and age, quarter-liter motorcycles are nudging the 30PS mark, and output in that region would make the HPS 300 more fun.
