Only a few two-wheeler manufacturers have unveiled their full-fledged electric vehicles and the electric two-wheeler market is still developing. Hero Electric is one of those manufactures who pioneered India’s e-bike/e-scooter market and introduced a range of products showing that an affordable platform can be EVs. For over six years now, the Hero Electric Optima has become India’s top-selling e-bike. There are two items in Hero Electric’s line – the High-Speed and Low-Speed series. The 2019 facelift version of the Optima, which is in the Hero Electric High-Speed Series, is the Hero Electric Optima HS500-ER. We took the soon-to-be-launched Hero Electric Optima HS500-ER for a test ride and tried to check what the facelift version of Hero Electric’s popular e-bike has to offer.

Hero Electric Optima HS500 ER Features

An all-digital instrument panel sports the Optima HS500-ER. An odometer, velocity metre, trip metre and battery power status indicator are part of the instrument panel. On a distance range alert, the optical instrument cluster loses out and the rider needs to gauge the distance range from the battery power indicator. Both the e-scooter and the battery pack have a 3-year warranty on the Optima HS500-ER. Ultimately, this takes the net operating cost down until it becomes almost zero. There is also a USB charging port on the e-scooter, which is helpful anytime you want to charge your smartphone or wireless headphones.

Hero Electric Optima HS500 ER Variants

The Hero Electric Optima HS500-ER looks like a traditional scooter and has an aerodynamic build. There is sufficient brightness in the broad headlamp composed of the LED bulb. With standard lamps, the tail lamp and side indicators are fitted. The Optima HS500-ER rides both front and back on 16-inch alloy wheels and looks very sleek. There is a decent amount of cushioning on the one-piece bench, and both the passenger and the pillion are very relaxed. A small luggage rack is also offered for the Optima HS500. The e-tail scooter’s is a little pointy and looks sporty. On the Optima HS500, the switches are perfectly moulded and look very superior. Hero Electric NYX HS500 ER Features

The Nyx comes with a telescopic front suspension on the rear and two shock absorbers attached to the swingarm. The scooter rides on 10-inch alloy wheels mounted at both ends with drum brakes. The dual split seats provide the passenger and the pillion with ease, while the adequate floorboard space provides luggage space. It comes with many storage choices, such as under-seat storage, a glovebox and a large floorboard. The option to fold the rear seat upright to allow space for extra luggage is one of the unique features of this scooter. When tying up extra baggage, the three-side grabrail is useful.
