For the first time since the bike got its BS6 updates, Suzuki has increased the prices of its Gixxer SF and Gixxer models, both of which are now roughly Rs 2,000 dearer. The Gixxer SF is now priced at Rs 1,23,940 while the MotoGP edition costs Rs 1,24,970 (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Suzuki has not given any new features and the bikes do feel a lot pricier in comparison to their BS4 counterparts.
Suzuki GIXXER SF Specifications
The Gixxer SF BS6 gets a 155cc air-cooled and fuel-injected motor. This BS6-compliant mill puts out 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. That is 0.3PS and 0.4Nm less than the BS4 Suzuki Gixxer SF. Kerb weight is also up by 2kg so expect a drop in performance. The Gixxer SF BS6 continues to feature a 5-speed gearbox. The Gixxer SF shares its tubular diamond frame with the larger Gixxer SF 250. It is more rigid than the first-gen model but is heavier as well since it uses thicker pipes. The clip-on handlebars and split-seat setup also lend the bike a more aggressive seating position. Suspension setup includes 41mm telescopic forks and preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS. It is one of the few bikes in its segment that sport a larger 140-section rear tyre.

The generational update makes the Suzuki Gixxer SF BS6 look more premium and sportier than before. It gets edgier styling, clip-on handlebars and a split seat to complete the effect. The Suzuki Gixxer SF BS6 has an impressive quality and fit and finish levels. It comes in three colours: Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Sonic Silver and a Metallic Triton Blue paint scheme with MotoGP livery that costs a bit more than the other two.

- Suzuki GIXXER

Suzuki has introduced new colours for its Gixxer and Gixxer SF range. Suzuki has hiked the prices of the Gixxer and the Gixxer SF by around Rs 2,000. This is the first price hike for the 150cc Suzukis since their launch earlier this year. While the price premium isn’t too high, the new asking price of Rs 1,13,941 (ex-showroom Delhi) makes it the costliest bike in its segment.
Suzuki GIXXER Specifications
The 155cc motor powering the Gixxer was already fuel-injected and has now become BS6-compliant thanks to some new ECU maps and an additional catalytic converter. As a result, output has taken a hit, down from 14.1PS/14Nm to 13.8PS/13.6Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Gixxer is held together by a single-downtube frame and suspension components comprising a conventional telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. It rolls on 17-inch wheels at both ends and anchorage is provided by disc brakes at both ends assisted by single-channel ABS. The increase in weight on the BS6 version is insignificant, just 1kg.
Suzuki GIXXER Features
The Gixxer’s sharp look is also thanks to the LED headlight and tail-lamp that Suzuki is offering. Turn indicators continue to be conventional bulbs. Instrumentation is a fully-digital affair with read-outs like two trip-meters and real-time fuel-efficiency being shown. Single-channel ABS ensures safety when panic braking.
Suzuki GIXXER Variants
The Gixxer has always featured muscular streetfighter styling right since the start, and even though it received a design update last year, the overall ethos of the appearance remains the same. There’s a large, sculpted fuel tank that takes centre-stage, and the flat, wide handlebars give the Gixxer a butch stance. The signature twin exhaust exits are still present and seem to be a hit with buyers.

Aside from the updates to the motor, there are no other changes on the BS6 bike. It continues to roll on wire-spoke wheels in a 19-inch/17-inch combo, while the suspension is handled by a 43mm telescopic fork and linked monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound damping. Stoppers are in the form of twin 320mm discs up front bitten by two-piston callipers and a single 260mm disc at the rear clamped on by a single-piston calliper.
