Pros And Cons of Toyota Innova Crysta

Pros of Toyota Innova CrystaSpace and comfort aside, the Toyota Innova Crysta’s cabin feels premium.

Strong resale value. Even today, a 13-year-old Innova worth Rs 6.80 lakh – Rs 10 lakh, fetches about Rs 3.5 lakh – Rs 4 lakh in the used car market.

Over time, the Innova badge has garnered cult status courtesy Toyota’s trusted reliability and solid after-sales service. Some fleet owners have upgraded their Innovas to the latest model whenever it has launched!

The 2.4-litre engine is now offered with an automatic transmission.
Cons of Toyota Innova CrystaDespite the engines being powerful, lack of refinement leaves ample of room to improve NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) levels in the Crysta.

Steep pricing. The fully loaded trim of the Toyota Innova Crysta commands an on-road price of approximately Rs 30 lakh!

Most of the premium features are reserved for the high-end variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta. Lower models feel barebones.

Given the sheer size of the Innova Crysta, steering is on the heavier side in city and the gear stick isn’t the smoothest at this price point.

  1. Toyota Yaris

Toyota Yaris Specifications

The Yaris is available with a single 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. The motor makes 107PS of power and 140Nm of torque, and can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-step automatic CVT. Now, it isn’t the most sprightly sedan around, but it does a phenomenal job of commuting. There’s no diesel engine on offer, and Toyota says we shouldn’t be holding our breaths for one.

Toyota Yaris Variants

You get to choose between a total of four variants for the Yaris – J, G, V and VX. Like we mentioned earlier, the fact that seven airbags are standard across the range is a sweet touch. We’d say it’s the one above base G variant that packs in the most value. You’d want nothing more for the price.

Toyota Yaris Features

Toyota’s Yaris might not be an aesthetic delight, but it does look purposeful. In terms of size, it’s right up there with its rivals and it does have the must-have ingredients. The face is dominated by the large projector headlamps that feature a LED light guide. There’s a separate set of daytime running lamps underlining the headlamps too. You’d find some more LEDs in the tail lamps of the Yaris, and that pretty much sums up the design highlights. The design is typically Japanese (and typically Toyota), which should please most and offend none. If we could nitpick, we’d say the wheels are one size too small. They simply don’t sync with the bulbous proportions of the Yaris.

Despite being among the widest cars in its class, the Yaris’ cabin does feel quite narrow. It’s a four seater in our books. Even its younger cousin, the Etios, offers more width at the rear. Kneeroom, while not exceptional, feels acceptable. If you pick the top-spec VX variant, Toyota will spoil you silly. Highlights include a powered driver’s seat, a 4.2-inch TFT colour screen for the MID and roof-mounted AC vents. Segment staples including automatic climate control, cruise control and leather upholstery are on offer as well. What’s truly commendable is Toyota’s decision of offering seven airbags as standard right from the base-spec variant.

  1. Toyota Camry

Toyota India has just announced that the Camry is all set to get a price hike with effect from June 2020. The price hike is due to an increase in exchange rate. Back in May 2020, the carmaker had revealed prices for the BS6-compliant Camry which was priced at Rs 37.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s Rs 38,000 dearer than its BS4 predecessor. The steep price hike is due to BS6 upgrades and a a standard price hike for the new financial year. The BS6 Camry continues to utilise the existing 2.5-litre hybrid engine with upgrades to meet BS6 emission norms. It rivals the Skoda Superb TSI.

Toyota Camry Specifications

In its latest avatar, the Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol motor that’s paired with a 88kW motor. The petrol engine makes 178PS of power and 221Nm of torque. On the other hand, the motor generator dishes out a healthy 120PS and 202Nm. Put together, the Camry dishes out 218PS in hybrid mode. And yes, it is capable of driving purely on battery power as well. Sending all of this power to the front wheels is Toyota’s smooth e-CVT automatic. You can shift through virtual ratios using the paddle shifters too.

Toyota Camry Variants

The Toyota Camry 2019 is available in a single fully-loaded variant. Priced at Rs 37.88 lakh, the new version is actually cheaper by Rs 27,000 compared to the older car. Also, compared to the Honda Accord Hybrid, the only other hybrid in the segment, it’s a full Rs 6.25 lakh cheaper.

Toyota Camry Features

For what was usually considered a sombre, low-profile sedan, the new-generation Camry can actually turn quite a few heads. Looks like Toyota’s designers found some awesome sauce in their drawers that they’ve generously poured over the new Camry. Dare we say, it looks sporty with its low-slung stance and that swooping roofline. It’s got all that you’d expect from a full-size luxury sedan: bi-beam full-LED headlamps, LED foglamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and LED brake lights. Compared to the outgoing version, the Camry 2019 is 35mm longer, 15mm wider and 35mm lower. Wheelbase too has been stretched by a full 50mm.

On the inside, Toyota has finally brought the Camry to the 21st century. It no longer looks and feels like an old-school sedan. The design of the dashboard is beautifully minimal, with a prominent Y-shaped element slap bang in the centre. Housed inside this is an 8-inch touchscreen system that’s connected to a 9-speaker JBL audio system. Other features on the Camry 2019 include heads-up display, powered front seats (with memory for the driver’s seat), electric steering column adjust, three-zone climate control, and leather upholstery. You also get the Camry’s trademark rear-armrest audio controls (but it’s now a touch-sensitive setup), reclining rear seats as well as a powered rear sunshade. Toyota has you covered in terms of safety too. The Camry is equipped with 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and vehicle stability and traction control. It also gets features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system and a brake hold function.
